Earth Day Is Kaltimber’s Everyday’s Business

We would like to wish a “Happy Earth Day” to all Nature’s lovers, and particularly to those who consider protecting our forests, one of the most important actions to fight climate change.

“Do not cut down the tree that gives you shade”. This old and famous proverb sums up the principles that drive the passion we have for our work.

Kaltimber, aka Kalimantan Recycled Timber, is a name that conveys the philosophy of the brand as well as the emphasis on reclaiming and recycling ironwood structures. To do so, we carefully select the best disused boats, bridges or warehouses. We give them a new life, a new chapter of their centennial story.

Our forests are endangered worldwide, and Indonesia is one of the biggest palm oil producers, an economy that comes at great cost for the environment, particularly in regards to the thousands hectares of forest cleared to make space for palm oil production every year.

That is why Kaltimber focuses on reducing pressure on Indonesian forests by promoting recycled timber as a viable alternative and environmentally-sound alternative. Our commitment has been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) in 2019. At our own level, we aim to play our part in setting a new tone for wood users and lovers, a new relationship between men, nature, and building for generations to come.

The wood we recycle is processed into decking that holds centuries of stories, and will become a heritage to be enjoyed for a very long time. In other words, we create another slice of the wood lengthy history. This process takes place in our Balinese factory under the careful hands of our  master craftsmen.

For Earth Day, but in reality, for every other day, our environment is to be taken care of. Using reclaimed materials is only a small part of the huge effort we all have to do to protect our planet, but installing reclaimed wood decking is already a good start!
