In any woodworking environment, safety is non-negotiable. Heavy machinery, sharp tools, and unpredictable conditions mean that even with the best protocols in place, accidents can still occur. At Kaltimber and Naturanexa, we understand that prevention is only part of the equation — preparation is equally important.
That’s why selected team members from both companies recently completed a comprehensive first aid training, becoming officially designated health and safety officers for our factories. This initiative strengthens our ability to respond swiftly and effectively in case of emergency, making our workspaces not only productive but also safer for everyone involved.
Understanding the risks in a woodworking environment
Working with reclaimed wood is incredibly rewarding — but it comes with specific risks. Whether it’s handling rough, heavy beams or operating industrial saws and sanders, injuries can happen in a split second. While our teams are required to wear protective gear at all times — including hard-tip shoes, gloves, goggles, and soundproof headbands — the nature of the work means we must always be prepared for the unexpected.
Going beyond the basics
The first aid training covered essential life-saving techniques such as cardiac massage (CPR) and how to manage emergency situations with calm and clarity. But beyond general first aid, the program also included specialized instruction tailored to woodworking environments — including how to properly apply bandages, control heavy bleeding, and use a tourniquet when necessary.
In a setting where saws, nail guns, and heavy loads are part of daily operations, these skills are not just helpful — they can be life-saving.
Creating a culture of responsibility
This training is more than a checklist item. It reflects a broader commitment shared by both Kaltimber and Naturanexa: to foster a culture of responsibility, where safety is actively upheld by everyone on the floor. By empowering our team with the knowledge and confidence to act during emergencies, we strengthen not just our response system, but the trust and collaboration among colleagues.
Safety as an ongoing investment
We view this initiative not as a one-time event, but as part of an ongoing investment in our people and our standards. Monthly reviews, safety drills, and updated signage in key areas of the factories ensure that this training remains fresh and relevant. Our health and safety officers are now active participants in maintaining safe practices across both companies.
Prepared, not just protected
At Kaltimber and Naturanexa, we’re proud to combine beautiful craftsmanship with responsible operations. First aid training is just one more way we’re ensuring that the people who bring reclaimed wood back to life can work with confidence, knowing they’re supported by a system that values their well-being.
After all, in woodworking, it’s not just about the quality of the product — it’s about the care and precision of the people who make it possible.
